Rewriting My Inner Monologue

Poetry, fiction, and the feelings I should probably keep to myself.

Meet Lauren, Poetry & Literary Fiction Author

I’m a Kansas City-based writer with a thing for long sentences, sad poems, and stories that don’t resolve too easily. I’ve published two poetry collections, been featured in CanvasRebel and VoyageKC, and cried over more drafts than I can count.

When I’m not writing, I’m probably editing (reluctantly), reading something weird, or recording episodes for The Revision Room—my podcast for writers who are also a little bit lost.

Writing, Reflecting, Rewriting

Hi! I’m Lauren Underwood, a fiction and poetry author. I write books that don’t flinch—from grief and mental health to identity and inner healing. If you’re looking for something that hits in the gut and lingers in the mind, you’ll find it here.

Fiction

Plot optional. Emotional devastation, guaranteed. Character-driven stories exploring the quiet moments that change everything.

Poetry

The messy, honest stuff. Tiny explosions of feeling, mostly lowercase, sometimes devastating. Written for the ones who feel too much and say too little.

Blog Writing

Behind the scenes and between the lines. Thoughts on writing, publishing panic, and the occasional pep talk I need to hear myself.

Two girls. Too many drafts. This is where we get honest about the creative process. Whether you’re writing your first book or trying to revise your twentieth, this podcast is for you.
